Acceptable Use Policy

1. What Muse is

Muse Escorts is an advertising directory, an online classifieds site for independent escorts and agencies in New Zealand. This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service and Content Guidelines. Where this page and the Terms differ, the Terms win.

It helps to know what Muse is not. There are no client accounts, no bookings made through the site, no messaging system and no payments between clients and advertisers. When a visitor taps the phone, text or WhatsApp button on a profile, the contact goes straight to the advertiser's own phone. Muse is not part of that conversation and never handles money for anyone.

Everyone who uses the site, advertiser or visitor, must be 18 or over.

2. Who can advertise

2.1 The basics

To list a profile on Muse, you (or each escort an agency lists) must:

• Be 18 or over. Verified profiles have this confirmed through a government ID and selfie check
• Be working by your own choice, with nobody controlling your listing, your phone or your money
• Give true information about yourself, your rates and what you offer
• Keep to New Zealand law, including any tax and local council obligations that apply to you

2.2 Work rights

Under section 19 of the Prostitution Reform Act 2003, a person who holds a temporary entry class visa may not provide commercial sexual services in New Zealand. By listing a profile you declare that you (or each escort your agency lists) do not hold a temporary entry class visa.

Muse cannot verify immigration status and does not try to. We rely on your declaration. If it turns out to be false, the listing comes down.

3. Content we do not allow

3.1 Illegal content

These get a listing removed straight away and, where the law requires or allows, reported to the Police:

• Anything involving, depicting or implying a person under 18
• Trafficking, slavery, coercion or exploitation, including any post that recruits or controls another person
• Sexual violence, non-consensual acts or anything showing injury
• Content involving animals
• Anything that would be objectionable under the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993
• Offering or implying services without a condom or other barrier. Providing or receiving uncovered services is an offence for both the worker and the client (Prostitution Reform Act 2003, section 9), and an ad for it advertises that offence. Words like natural, bareback, BBFS, bare, raw, no cover, skin to skin and no raincoat are banned anywhere on a profile
• Illegal drugs, including coded terms such as party, 420, PnP and chem
• A listing for someone who holds a temporary entry class visa (section 2.2)

3.2 Wording that signals exploitation

Some phrases are common in listings placed by people who control others. We do not allow them on Muse, even when the advertiser is independent and means nothing by them:

• "New arrival", "just landed", "fresh in town", "new in NZ" or similar wording about someone having just arrived
• "We have girls", "new girls every week" or any wording that presents people as stock
• Anything that suggests the person did not write or does not control their own listing

Agencies can absolutely say who has joined the team. Say it as a person joining, not as a delivery.

3.3 Misleading content

The Fair Trading Act 1986 applies to advertising, and so do our own rules on honesty:

• Photos of someone other than the person advertised, stock images or images edited to the point they no longer look like you
• A false age, false physical details or services you do not actually offer
• Rates or availability that are not honoured when a client gets in touch
• Fake reviews or testimonials
• Pretending to be another advertiser

Bait and switch, where the person who turns up is not the person advertised, has its own process in the Terms of Service.

3.4 Hateful or abusive content

We do not allow:

• Slurs, or wording that attacks or demeans people because of their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender identity or sexual orientation
• Content that dehumanises or degrades any person or group
• Threats, gore or glorified violence

This is about how you write, not who you see. Advertisers may set their own client boundaries. Section 17 of the Prostitution Reform Act 2003 lets a sex worker refuse any client for any reason, and nothing in our rules changes that. Stating your preferences clearly is fine; insulting the people you do not see is not.

3.5 Other people's privacy

• Publishing anyone's personal details without their consent, including clients, other advertisers or family
• Intimate images of anyone who has not agreed to them being published
• Screenshots of private conversations
• Names, numbers or details of clients, on a profile or anywhere else on the site

3.6 Sending people elsewhere

Profiles are for advertising in-person companionship in New Zealand. We do not allow:

• OnlyFans links, handles or mentions
• Links or handles for any other subscription, content or social platform
• Wording that points visitors somewhere else to buy or view content

4. Behaviour we do not allow

4.1 Abusing the site

• Creating more than one account for the same person, or duplicate profiles for the same escort
• Scraping, crawling or bulk downloading profiles or photos
• Getting around the age gate, review queue or any other control
• Probing for or exploiting security weaknesses, or deliberately disrupting the service
• Sharing your login with anyone else, or leaving it somewhere others can use it

4.2 Harassment

• Stalking, threatening or intimidating an advertiser or anyone else
• Contacting someone again after they have asked you to stop
• Blackmail, extortion or threats to expose someone
• Using details found on Muse to harm or track a person

4.3 Undermining other advertisers

• False reports against another advertiser to get their listing taken down
• Copying another advertiser's photos, name or wording
• Posting false claims about another advertiser anywhere on the site

5. Agencies

An agency has one login and can list many escorts. The escorts it lists do not have their own logins, so the agency carries their obligations under this policy. For each escort it lists, the agency declares that:

• She has agreed to be listed on Muse and to the photos and wording used
• She is 18 or over
• She does not hold a temporary entry class visa (section 2.2)
• She is working by her own choice and is free to leave

Any escort listed by an agency can have her profile removed by emailing support@museescorts.co.nz. We do this without going through the agency and without telling the agency who asked.

If a case of trafficking or coercion involving an agency is confirmed, we do not treat it as a problem with one profile. The whole roster comes down and the agency account is closed.

6. Visitors

You do not need an account to browse Muse, but you do need to be 18 or over and to confirm that at the age gate. Beyond that, we ask a few things of you:

• Treat the people you contact with respect. They set the terms of any meeting
• Do not ask for uncovered services. Under the Prostitution Reform Act 2003 that is an offence for you as well as the worker
• Do not copy, save or share profile photos outside the site
• If you see something on the site that worries you, report it. You can do that anonymously

7. Review, reports and enforcement

7.1 What we look at

Every new profile waits in a review queue and an admin looks at it before it goes live, usually within 24 hours. Photos added to a live profile are looked at as well. If we reject something, we tell you why and you can fix it and resubmit. This is a look, not an audit or an approval. Things will occasionally slip past us, and when they do the advertiser is still the one responsible for what they published.

We can, at any time:

• Reject, hide, edit down or remove any content
• Suspend or close a profile or account
• Pass illegal content or activity to the Police or another agency
• Respond to a lawful request for information

7.2 Reports

Anyone can report a profile, with or without leaving their name. You can also email support@museescorts.co.nz. If someone is in immediate danger, phone 111.

Every report is looked at, usually within 24 hours. Reports about minors or trafficking go to the top of the queue. Where a report is genuine and raises an immediate concern, we suspend the listing while we look into it. Where it does not, the listing stays up while we check. Most reports do not lead to a suspension, and a report is not proof of anything on its own.

We share the outcome of a report only with a reporter who left an email address. Anonymous reporters are still welcome; we just have no way to reply.

7.3 What happens when a rule is broken

It depends on what happened. A banned word in a bio usually means we hide the profile and ask you to change it. Misleading photos or rates mean a suspension until they are fixed. Anything in section 3.1 or 3.2 means the listing comes down and, for agencies, section 5 applies. Repeated smaller breaches add up and can end with the account closed. We use our own judgement in each case.

8. Appeals

If your profile has been suspended or content removed and you think we got it wrong, you can appeal through your dashboard within 14 days of the decision. Tell us what happened and include anything that supports your side. We will look at it again and reply as soon as we reasonably can. The same 14-day window applies to bait-and-switch findings under the Terms of Service.

We do not take appeals on removals involving a person under 18, trafficking or coercion. Those decisions are final.

9. New Zealand law

These rules are ours. The law is separate and applies to you whether or not we mention it. The laws most relevant to advertising on Muse are:

• Prostitution Reform Act 2003, in particular section 9 (safer sex), section 16 (no inducing or compelling), section 17 (the right to refuse any client), section 19 (temporary entry class visas) and sections 20 to 23 (under 18)
• Crimes Act 1961, sections 98, 98AA and 98D (slavery, dealing in people under 18 and trafficking) and sections 216G to 216J (intimate visual recordings)
• Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993, objectionable content
• Fair Trading Act 1986, misleading advertising
• Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015, content that harms a person
• Privacy Act 2020, other people's personal information

10. Updates to this policy

We update this page when the law changes, when the site changes or when we see a new pattern of abuse. The date at the top tells you when. Changes that affect how we enforce the rules are emailed to advertisers 30 days before they take effect, as set out in the Terms of Service.
